You started as a startup company. How has it been for a startup in India?
The journey was quite pleasant and we realised that this exhibition was specifically for the HVAC industry. Our background is much more relevant to the power generation industry. We started as a sister concern to a company started in 1989, and they have always worked in the government power generation sector. What we started with was diversification into the private power generation sector. What we have done since then is brought a lot of products and goods from Europe and East Asia to India for many customers at very affordable prices. The second thing is that these condenser tube cleaning balls are one of the products we introduced to India. We started manufacturing in 2011 by bringing in technology from East Asia and Europe. We supply 50 percent of power generation plants in India. Along with that what we have realised is that the private power generation sector is much different from the government power generation sector. What that taught us was that we must keep our product line dynamic. By doing that we have to keep changing the products we offer according to what the customer needs.

Your vision has always been focused on the power sector. What made you enter the HVAC industry?
The HVAC industry has diversified for us. Our revenue model still heavily depends on India’s power generation sector. What we have done is market research. The results and the answers we got were that HVAC is the obvious answer if you want to diversify. HVAC is a growing industry. There is steady demand and growth potential. If we are ready to do the work, if we are ready to do the research then we can develop a lot of products that will be more and more needed by the industry. Global markets do not affect the industry. So even if there’s a recession on the way, no one’s willing to turn off their air conditioning. One of the main products we focus on is energy efficiency and energy conservation. So there is a lot of focus even from the government sector on reducing energy consumption. That is what we’re focusing on. And the HVAC industry is such that there’s always demand for the HVAC industry. Along with that will be a demand to reduce energy consumption, making HVAC an obvious sector to diversify into.

Who are your target clients?
Target lines can be both; one is the end user. This includes process plants, chemical industries, refrigeration industries, hospitals, malls, and anyone with central air conditioning units is a potential client for us. That is on one side of the graph, and on the other side are the manufacturers, manufacturers of the various chillers and heat exchangers. They are the obvious clients for us.

What exactly are your offerings in the HVAC industry?
Two of the main products we offer during this exhibition are the Vulcan automatic online tube cleaning system. One is under our brand name VOCCSYS, and the other is our Vulcan Condenser Cleaning Balls. The system removes scaling from tubes and shell-type heat exchangers. This is mainly seen in chillers and condensers. What we offer is an automatic online system to continuously clean the condenser tubes. This lowers your excessive energy consumption, improves cooling and heat transfer coefficients, and increases the life of the equipment itself.

How do you see opportunity in your business and what growth strategies do you have?
What we want to do right now is make everyone aware of what we offer. Because once we do that then we are assured that the customer is going to come to us because then they believe in us and we are very transparent in our designs also at every stage where whatever we are offering we are very open with the client and whatever parts and the equipment that we use to assemble the unit is always freely available to the client so that in tomorrow’s date they can freely purchase it directly from the manufacturers. We have no issues with that.
