Australian Clean Energy Delegation Explores India Partnerships at REI Expo 2026
A 32-member Australian clean energy delegation representing 21 companies explored commercial partnerships, technology collaborations and knowledge-sharing opportunities with Indian industry stakeholders at the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2026, held from 22–24 October at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida.
Led by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), the delegation’s participation highlighted the growing opportunities for Australia-India collaboration in renewable energy, energy storage and low-emissions technologies.
The Australia Pavilion at REI Expo 2026 showcased a diverse portfolio of Australian capabilities across the clean energy value chain. Participating companies presented solutions spanning energy and battery storage systems, solar technologies, renewable-powered water systems for remote areas, hydrogen technology, energy simulation, renewable energy training, solar installation, clean technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
During the three-day expo, the delegation engaged with Indian businesses and industry stakeholders to gain insights into India’s evolving clean energy ecosystem and identify opportunities for commercial partnerships, technology deployment and knowledge exchange.
Strengthening Australia-India Clean Energy Ties
Australia’s participation at REI Expo 2026 reflects the growing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in advancing renewable energy, strengthening energy security and accelerating the transition to lower-emissions energy systems.
A key framework underpinning this collaboration is the India-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership, launched in November 2024. The partnership identifies eight areas of cooperation, including solar photovoltaics, solar supply chains, renewable hydrogen, energy storage, circular economy solutions for renewable energy, bilateral investment in renewable energy projects and allied sectors, capacity building, and other areas of mutual interest.
Murray Spence, Trade and Investment Commissioner, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) said, “India and Australia bring complementary strengths to the clean energy transition. Australian businesses offer specialised technology, innovation and system know-how across the clean energy value chain, while India presents significant opportunities for collaboration, technology deployment and market growth. REI Expo 2026 connects the Australian clean energy delegation directly with Indian industry to explore and build partnerships that can deliver long-term commercial outcomes.”
India’s Renewable Energy Growth Opens New Opportunities
India’s expanding renewable energy sector is creating demand for advanced energy storage solutions, grid modernisation, clean energy technologies and resilient supply chains. These developments present opportunities for Australian companies to bring their expertise and innovative solutions to the Indian market while building long-term commercial relationships.
The delegation’s participation at REI Expo 2026 was delivered through a visit programme organised by Australia’s Smart Energy Council and the Renewable Energy Council Asia Pacific (RECAP). The programme received support from the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water; the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI); Investment NSW; and Global Victoria.
Through its engagement with Indian industry, Austrade continues to facilitate business connections and promote Australian clean energy capabilities, supporting cross-border investment, technology partnerships and sustained collaboration between the two countries.
