MahaTransco celebrates 18 Years of Powering Maharashtra
MahaTransco, the leading transmission company in the country, marked its 18th anniversary with a grand celebration, showcasing its ongoing projects and initiatives. The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including the Director (Independent) of Maharashtra State Electricity Board Sutradhari Company, Vishwas Pathak, Director (Operation) Sandeep Kalantri, Director (Projects) Naseer Qadri, Director (Finance) Ashok Phalnikar, and Director (Human Resources) Sugata Gamre.
During the commemorative event, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, CMD of MahaTransco, highlighted the organization’s commitment to supporting farmers. He ensured timely compensation for land loss, crops, and trees affected by channel construction. Under the revised Right of Way (RoW) policy, MahaTransco will directly deposit the compensation amount into landowner accounts, eliminating payment delays. Dr. Kumar emphasized that this measure aims to provide prompt and fair support to concerned landowners.
The Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, conveyed his heartfelt greetings to all MahaTransco officers and employees through a recorded message. He acknowledged their dedication and efforts. He recognized the importance of strengthening the MahaTransco system to meet growing power demand. This demand is projected to reach 40,000 MW in the near future, compared to the current demand of 28,000 MW. Pathak also emphasized the significance of overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities in the power sector. He underscored the need to enhance the MahaTransco infrastructure accordingly.
Dr. Kumar further highlighted the remarkable potential and challenges in the country’s non-conventional energy sector. MahaTransco’s ambitious plan involves the construction of a thousand circuit kilometers of ultra-high-pressure transmission lines, generating over 5000 MW of energy. In line with embracing advanced technology, MahaTransco has successfully implemented drone usage, particularly for efficient surveys and monitoring of high-pressure pipelines in remote areas.
To motivate and recognize MahaTransco officials’ exceptional efforts, an award scheme has been introduced at both the sub-division and team office levels. This scheme aims to provide continuous encouragement and will be an ongoing initiative to inspire officers and employees alike.
The 18th-anniversary celebration of MahaTransco served as a testament to its commitment to progress, innovation, and sustainable development in the transmission and energy sector. The organization remains steadfast in its mission to meet the evolving needs of the industry and contribute significantly to the nation’s growth.
