How Maharashtra Will Power Data Centres?
Data centers consume about 3% of the world’s electricity, and this substantial energy consumption is expected to increase as more data is stored and processed, leading to the establishment of more data centers.
Notably, Mumbai is home to nearly half of all data centers in India. In 2023, Mumbai emerged as the third-largest data center market in the Asia-Pacific region, with a total capacity of 2,337 MW, trailing only Shanghai (2,692 MW) and Tokyo (2,575 MW). Major national and international players like Amazon Web Services (AWS), AdaniConneX, Airtel Nxtra, Colt Data Services, CtrlS, Equinix, NTT, Reliance, Sify, STT Global, WebWerks, and Yotta have already invested in the financial capital.
