The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) hosted a city-based roadshow in Mumbai to announce EXCON 2023. The event saw participation from industry leaders, government representatives, and stakeholders from the infrastructure and construction equipment sector.

EXCON, South Asia’s largest construction equipment exhibition, organized by CII, will take place from December 12 to 16, 2023, at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in Bengaluru.

The event will cover an expansive display area of 30 lakhs sq. ft and is expected to draw over 1200 exhibitors from India and abroad, including countries such as Austria, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States of America. The Government of Karnataka will act as the Host State for EXCON 2023.

Commenting on this, Deepak Garg, Managing Director, Sany Heavy Industry India Pvt Ltd, said, “We are excited to present the 12th Edition of EXCON, embracing the theme ‘Building India’s Tomorrow. This theme encompasses the core principles of Technology, Globalization, Sustainability, and Inclusiveness. EXCON 2023 is more than just an event; it serves as the driving force behind India’s continuous progress, symbolizing our robust infrastructure development and solidifying India’s prominent position as a global hub for construction equipment manufacturing.”

In 2023, the construction industry is undergoing a technological shift driven by key innovations. Generative AI is streamlining the design process, generating efficient and innovative designs, and enhancing the sector’s expansion and efficiency. The Construction Equipment industry aims for a significant 15% yearly growth in the next five years, emphasizing its commitment to providing cutting-edge machinery and ensuring sustainable and efficient construction projects nationwide.

India’s economic progress relies heavily on the vitality of the infrastructure sector, which has garnered significant government attention. With an allocation of Rs. 10 lakh crores (equivalent to USD 130.57 billion), the government is bolstering the sector. Emphasizing the importance of technology, they have identified 54 global technologies under a technology sub-mission, signaling a new era in Indian construction technology.

EXCON 2023 highlights key areas such as Alternate Fuels, AI Pavilion, Aatma Nirbhar Bharat, Skills, Women operating construction equipment, and machinery. The event aims to be a catalyst for India’s continuous progress, promoting robust infrastructure development and solidifying the nation’s global standing in the construction equipment manufacturing sector.

EXCON serves as a platform for marketing and education, benefiting government officials, senior bureaucrats, contractors, developers, and urban planning experts. The event showcases adaptable machinery and advanced construction technologies, emphasizing cost-effective solutions prioritizing quality, safety, and environmental sustainability.

Prominent participants include leading organizations such as JCB, BKT, Caterpillar, Imperial Auto, Jindal Steel & Power, Gulf Oil, Kobelco, KYB, Larsen and Toubro, and many others. The Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA) is the sector partner, with the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (ESC) and the Builders Association of India (BAI) as supporting partners for EXCON 2023.
