Skill Development Minister Jayant Chaudhary visits Schneider Electric’s Avinya Campus, Bengaluru

Schneider Electric, a leader in digital transformation for energy management and automation, recently hosted Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State, Ministry of Education, at its largest campus, Avinya, in Bengaluru.

Schneider Electric, in partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has established four cutting-edge Indian Institutes of Future Skills in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karnataka. These institutes specialize in Industrial Automation, Building Management Systems, and IIoT Technologies, providing students with hands-on experience and industry-recognized certifications.

This initiative effectively addresses the skill gap in India’s industrial sector while promoting academia-industry collaboration. Students gain valuable experience through internships, live projects, and direct industry engagement, while faculty members benefit from continuous upskilling to ensure high-quality education that meets evolving industry demands.

Speaking on his visit, the Minister said, “The role of industry in skill development is not just valuable—it is indispensable. Companies like Schneider Electric exemplify the power of public-private collaboration in equipping our youth with cutting-edge skills and making them future-ready. MSDE’s partnership with Schneider Electric has been instrumental in bridging the gap between industry needs and skilling initiatives, ensuring hands-on, demand-driven training that enhances employability.

He adds, We have recently announced the National scheme for ITI Upgradation as well, where industry participation remains a key pillar. With Rs. 10,000 crore in contributions from industry partners as part of the scheme’s Rs. 60,000 crore outlay, we are reinforcing the need for a co-shared responsibility model—where industries actively shape curriculum, provide training infrastructure, and ensure a direct linkage to employment. India’s aspiration to become the skill capital of the world can only be realized when industries, training institutions, and the government work in unison. I commend Schneider Electric for its unwavering commitment to this mission, and I urge more companies to step forward and be part of this transformative journey.”

Deepak Sharma, Zone President – Greater India and MD & CEO, Schneider Electric, said, “We had the privilege of welcoming Minister Jayant Chaudhary to our Schneider Avinya campus, the largest hub for innovation, research, and skill development in India. This visit underscores our continuous efforts to drive innovation, enhance skill development, and foster entrepreneurship across the nation. At Schneider Electric, we are dedicated to transforming India into a global talent hub by harnessing the vast potential of its skilled workforce. We eagerly anticipate further collaboration with the Government of India to empower the next generation of professionals.”

Schneider Electric has trained over 265,000 youth for gainful employment through its 570-plus training centers spread across Greater India. Its environmental education program has reached more than 1,00,000 school students, solar powered digital education provided to over 450 schools. Furthermore, the company has supported solar-powered irrigation for 20,000 farming families, effectively doubling their income.

Schneider Electric has set up over 70 technology labs in engineering, diploma, and ITI colleges to train students in energy and automation technologies. Additionally, it has established 9 labs in various engineering colleges to provide training and foster research partnerships aimed at advancing technological innovation.
