Mr. Kumar, what solutions have Quaker Houghton brought to IMME 2024, particularly addressing the unique challenges of Indian mining?
Kirity Kumar: IMME 2024 provides an excellent platform to showcase how Indian mining is advancing, particularly in underground coal mining, which is a key focus area for Quaker Houghton. We are introducing two cutting-edge solutions designed to address sustainability and operational challenges. One highlight is our innovative dust suppression product, which requires only a 0.05% mix with water to effectively control dust. It also features a corrosion inhibitor that prevents rust on motors and gearboxes, a critical advantage in underground mining where frequent stops due to visibility issues are common. With our solution, operations can continue uninterrupted, significantly enhancing productivity while maintaining equipment integrity.
What’s the current outlook for Quaker Houghton’s presence in the Indian market?
Kirity Kumar: Quaker Houghton has established a robust presence in India’s mining sector, particularly in underground mining. We focus on three key segments: standard equipment, continuous mining, and longwall operations. In continuous mining, we are proud to be involved in nearly all major projects across the country. A significant milestone is the launch of Quintex D68, a fire-resistant hydraulic fluid manufactured in India and approved by DGMS. This product, introduced in 2022, has been widely adopted in underground coal mines and has received excellent feedback for its effectiveness in continuous mining operations.
In summary, how does Quaker Houghton contribute to making mining smarter and more sustainable?
Kirity Kumar: At Quaker Houghton, our solutions are driven by experience and a commitment to local manufacturing, ensuring that mining operations are safer, more efficient, and sustainable. From innovative dust suppression systems to advanced fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, we continue to develop products tailored to the unique challenges of the Indian mining sector. By supporting mining companies in achieving their sustainability goals, we are actively contributing to the advancement of a smarter and greener mining industry.
