New electricity rules give consumers right to 24×7 supply

Consumers across the country will now have the right to a minimum standard of service for supply of electricity. Announcing the notification of the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020, Power Minister RK Singh said, “Distribution Companies across the country are monopolies – whether government or private – and the consumer has no alternative – therefore it was necessary that the consumers rights be laid down in Rules and a system for enforcement of these rights be put in place.”

The minister added that these rules are also an important step towards furthering the ease of doing business across the country. Implementation of these Rules shall ensure that new electricity connections, refunds and other services are given in a time bound manner.

Nitin Gadkari inaugurates and lays foundation stone of NH projects worth over Rs 13,000 Cr in Telangana

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid foundation of 14 National Highway projects in Telangana today. These projects include around 766 kms long roads worth Rs 13,169 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari informed that a total of 59 road works with approved length of 1,918 kms and a cost of Rs 17,617 crore have been sanctioned in Telangana in the last 6 years. Of this, 1,782 km length has already been sanctioned with a cost of Rs 15,689 crore. He said, almost all of the 33 districts in the State today have connectivity with National Highways. The remaining district Peddapally will also be connected to the network soon.

The Minister said, there has been a phenomenal growth of 55.71 per cent NH length in last 6 years in the State.

ONGC starts oil production in Bengal Basin

West Bengal gets included in ONGC’s oil and gas map with its eighth field at Ashoknagar in West Bengal starting commercial production on Sunday. ONGC first extracted 20 kilolitres of crude oil from the Ashoknagar oilfields early November this year and had sent it to Indian Oil’s Haldia refinery for processing.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Oil & natural gas and steel minister, while dedicating the Asokenagar discovery to the nation, said that the discovery would play a role for India’s energy security. He said that ONGC has invested Rs. 3361 Crore to explore hydrocarbon in the Bengal Basin. Rs. 425 Crore will be spent on exploration activities in the basin in the coming two years.

Panasonic Life Solutions India wins ‘Golden Peacock Award for Environment Management’ for 2020

Manufacturer of electrical construction materials Panasonic Life Solutions India Pvt Ltd announced that the company has won ‘’Golden Peacock Award 2020 for Environment Management’ for their wires & cables manufacturing unit located in Daman. The award category was for prominent players present in the Electrical Consumer Goods Manufacturing Sector.
