Panvel Bound Flyover at Shil Phata Junction Opens

The Panvel Bound Flyover at Shil Phata Junction on NH-48 (Old Mumbai Pune Highway) has been inaugurated by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde. The flyover spans a width of 24 meters with 3 + 3 lanes, extending for a length of 739.5 meters. The viaduct is 300 meters long, with approach lengths of 271.5 meters (toward Mumbra side – A1) and 168.0 meters (toward Panvel side – A2). The project, costing INR 45.68 Crores, features a dual carriageway with each arm facilitating 3 lanes totaling a width of 12 meters. One arm caters to Panvel Bound traffic while the other ensures smooth movement for Thane Bound traffic.

The inauguration marks a significant milestone in traffic infrastructure development within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Envisioned by MMRDA, the project aims to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly at Kalyan Phata Junction, which experiences heavy traffic flow. The ongoing infrastructure projects in the surrounding areas are expected to further increase traffic, making the flyover crucial for regulating movements from JNPT and Thane. It is anticipated to save commuters time, money, and fuel consumption, enhancing overall travel experience along NH-48.

The inauguration of the Panvel Bound Flyover paves the way for the anticipated inauguration of the Thane Bound Flyover within the next two months, further enhancing traffic management and commuter experience in the region.
