Waaree Energies on Expansion Spree

WATCH: https://bit.ly/waaree-m4i

Waaree Energies Ltd., one of India’s largest solar module and cell manufacturers, demonstrated its rapid growth momentum and expanding technological footprint at the Renewable Energy India Expo (REI) 2025. From large-scale manufacturing expansions to breakthrough innovations across solar, inverters, hydrogen, energy storage, and smart metering, the company presented a comprehensive portfolio that reinforces its position as a full-spectrum renewable energy partner.

In an exclusive interaction at Waaree’s booth, Jatin Panchal, Business Marketing Head, detailed the company’s aggressive capacity expansions in India and overseas, while Urvil Shah, Head of Sales, introduced Waaree’s newly launched smart energy meters. Together, they offered a holistic view of Waaree’s rapidly growing capabilities and its role in shaping India’s clean energy transformation.

Expanding Global Footprint
Speaking about Waaree’s international plans, Jatin Panchal emphasized that the company’s global expansion is a strategic step toward serving a wider customer base and strengthening India’s presence in the global solar manufacturing ecosystem. Waaree currently operates two manufacturing facilities in the United States with a combined capacity of 2.6 GW, soon to be enhanced by an additional 1.6 GW, bringing the United States total to 4 GW.

Beyond the United States, Waaree maintains a growing presence in the Middle East, where it aims to support customers in EPC and utility-scale solar development. With shipments already reaching 24+ countries, the company plans to further scale its overseas business with strong customer outreach and diversified product offerings.

Domestic Growth
Panchal outlined Waaree’s major domestic expansion plans, which span across multiple verticals. The company is setting up India’s largest 20 GWh battery energy storage manufacturing facility, along with a 10 GW Ingot-Wafer-Cell facility to strengthen backward integration. Additionally, Waaree is establishing a 4 GW Inverter Manufacturing Plant, which will fully produce inverters in India—covering SMT, component sourcing, supply chain handling, and final assembly.

Waaree is also expanding through strategic acquisitions. The company recently acquired Kotsons, now renamed Waaree Transpower, offering end-to-end transformer solutions that complement Waaree’s renewable offerings. Waaree has also taken a stake in smart meter company Racemosa Energy, enabling it to support India’s growing advanced metering infrastructure.

Growth Drivers
When asked about what is powering Waaree’s robust momentum, Panchal pointed to a combination of technology leadership, supportive government policies, and growing global demand.

Policy support through schemes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, PM-KUSUM, and SECI-led initiatives has created a strong push for local manufacturing and the adoption of green energy solutions. On the technological front, Waaree continues to lead with innovation in cell technologies including Mono PERC, N-type solar panels, and HJT, while executing backward integration through Ingot, Wafer, and Cell Manufacturing.

A key innovation highlighted was India’s first LFP cell, manufactured by Waaree, which Panchal described as a significant milestone for the country’s battery energy storage ecosystem.

Future Outlook
Waaree’s future roadmap is anchored in becoming a fully integrated clean energy solutions provider. The company is setting up a Gigawatt-Scale Electrolyzer manufacturing facility to support India’s emerging Green Hydrogen economy. Its 20 GWh battery energy storage plant is poised to play a major role in meeting rising storage needs across utility, commercial, and residential applications.

Furthermore, Waaree’s inverter production—from SMT to final assembly—will ensure high-quality, made-in-India products for domestic and global markets. Panchal emphasized that Waaree’s entire manufacturing expansion is focused on enabling customers to access solar modules, inverters, hydrogen solutions, and energy storage—all under one umbrella.

Products at REI 2025
During the booth walkthrough, Panchal presented Waaree’s next-generation innovations, starting with the lightweight, flexible solar module capable of bending up to 30 degrees. Designed for curved rooftops, mobile applications, camping, trekking, and defense needs, the module comes with 5-year workmanship and 15-year performance warranty.

Waaree also showcased its front-contactless N-type modules, featuring rear-side contact design, enhanced light absorption, and high-transmittance HTAR glass for improved generation. The recently launched module boasts an impressive 23.88% efficiency, surpassing conventional module performance benchmarks.

The company also introduced its 350 kW grid-tied three-phase inverter, suitable for C&I rooftops and PM-KUSUM projects.

Waaree’s all-in-one Radiance Solar Kit, designed for hassle-free residential installations, is another highlight. The kit includes PV modules, Inverters, DC MCBs, cables, Earthing Connectors, and all required accessories. Customers can purchase it through e-commerce platforms or Waaree’s own online store, with channel partner support available across India.

Smart Energy Meters
Providing insights into Waaree’s metering solutions, Urvil Shah, Head of Sales, introduced the new Waaree Smart Meter, available in both single-phase and three-phase variants. The meter features in-built net metering and cellular connectivity, making it ideal for sub-metering and distribution companies. Shah highlighted that the Government of India plans to deploy 25 crore smart meters, and Waaree is proud to contribute to this national mission.
