Vitesco Technologies unveils its  48V Demo Scooter

Vitesco Technologies, a renowned global supplier of advanced powertrain technologies and solutions for e-mobility, is set to showcase its groundbreaking electrification solutions for the 2-wheeler market. In an unprecedented move, the company will publicly demonstrate a prototype of its 48-volt system for electric light motorcycles and scooters in India, featuring an output range of 3 to 7 kW (equivalent to 150 cc for combustion engines).

With a strong foundation of two decades of expertise in the two-wheel vehicle sector, Vitesco Technologies leverages its in-house series products in the automotive industry to drive its new developments. One such cutting-edge solution is the highly integrated EMR3 (3rd generation of Electronics Motor Reducer) electric axle drive, which has already made a significant impact in the passenger car market. This innovative technology will be tailored as a high-performance solution for three- and four-wheelers, and will be showcased alongside the demo version of the 48-volt system.

The unveiling of the demo scooter took place at Vitesco Technologies’ facility in Talegaon, Pune, and was attended by Klaus Hau, Executive Board Member and Head of Powertrain Solutions Division, and Anurag Garg, Managing Director & Country Head of Vitesco Technologies India. Klaus Hau expressed his belief in the electric future, stating, “I truly believe that the future is electric, and we are excited to showcase our first 48-volt demo vehicle in India.” He emphasized the significance of India in the company’s global growth strategy, considering the ongoing transformative phase of the country’s automotive industry. Hau also highlighted Vitesco Technologies’ readiness for this transition, backed by their extensive experience, electronics expertise, and diverse product portfolio. With over 15 years of experience in electrification, the company currently offers around 80% of the components required for electrified vehicles, positioning themselves as a key player in the industry. Their objective is to achieve remarkable growth in electrification technologies and expand their business accordingly.

Anurag Garg, Managing Director & Country Head of Vitesco Technologies India, shared his excitement about the debut of the 48-volt system for electric light scooters and bikes in India. He emphasized the company’s aim to envision a new generation of electric vehicles while establishing benchmarks for other e-mobility projects. Garg also highlighted Vitesco Technologies’ long-standing investment in the segment since 2006, successfully introducing e-innovations to the market for more than a decade. He assured that the company will continue enhancing the efficiency and range of innovative electrification solutions for 2-wheelers and Powersports in India, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies.

Vitesco Technologies’ demonstration of its 48-volt system and the showcase of the highly integrated EMR3 electric axle drive exemplify their commitment to driving the electrification revolution in the 2-wheeler market. With a focus on global, scalable platforms and a portfolio that spans a wide range of electrified vehicle components, the company is poised for exceptional growth and expansion in electrification technologies.
