VDMA Hosts 2nd West India Members Meet in Mumbai
The 2nd edition of the VDMA West India Members Meet, organized by VDMA India, was held in Mumbai today, bringing together key stakeholders from the Indo-German business community. The event revolved around the theme “Indo-German Business Forum: Strengthening Collaborative Approach in Manufacturing,” highlighting the deepening partnership between the two nations in the manufacturing sector.
In his opening address, Rajesh Nath, Managing Director of VDMA India, emphasized the significance of the Indo-German economic relationship, which saw bilateral trade reach $30 billion in FY 2022-23. Nath highlighted Germany’s position as India’s 7th largest foreign direct investor and its role in advancing sectors like transportation, electrical equipment, automobiles, and industrial machinery.
Chief Guest Achim Fabig, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mumbai, spoke about Germany’s importance as a destination for skilled Indian professionals and the increasing focus on talent exchange. He highlighted how this synergy impacts both countries’ manufacturing industries.
Guest of Honour, Dr. Sacchidananda Shukla, Group Chief Economist at Larsen & Toubro, delivered a keynote speech on “India towards a $10 Trillion Economy,” discussing how deepened Indo-German collaboration could aid in achieving India’s economic ambitions.
The event was supported by partners such as Roedl & Partner, ICICI Bank, NAMTECH, and others, who provided insights on manufacturing innovations and trends. Renowned member companies, including Renishaw India and WIBU Systems, also showcased their contributions to the manufacturing sector.
