RIR Power Electronics Secures First Overseas Order for 125mm 5kV SCR Thyristors
Mumbai, May 27, 2026: RIR Power Electronics Limited, a Mumbai-based manufacturer of high-performance semiconductor devices, assemblies, and energy management systems, has secured its first international order for 120 units of its advanced 125mm 5kV Silicon-Controlled Rectifier (SCR) thyristors.
The order marks a significant milestone for the company and reinforces growing global confidence in RIR Power Electronics’ portfolio of high-power press-pack thyristors known for innovation, reliability, and energy efficiency.
The 125mm 5kV SCR thyristors are specially engineered high-current semiconductor switching devices capable of handling extremely high peak currents and high di/dt pulses over short durations. Built using a 125mm silicon chip enclosed in a robust press-pack structure, these thyristors offer superior mechanical reliability and optimized lifetime control, making them ideal for demanding heavy-power applications requiring exceptional current handling capability and operational reliability.
The order has been placed by a leading Class I Electrical EPC contractor engaged in turnkey electrification projects for industries and power plants globally. The development further strengthens RIR Power Electronics’ positioning as India’s leading vertically integrated Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductor manufacturer.
