DesignTech Systems | Automation Expo 2025 | Product Walkthrough
Prashant Deshpande and Gautam Chakravorty of DesignTech Systems unveil AI-powered inspection, smart warehousing, predictive maintenance, advanced robotics, and 3D printing at Automation Expo 2025
At the recently concluded Automation Expo 2025 in Mumbai, DesignTech Systems showcased its wide portfolio of advanced smart factory automation solutions. From AI-enabled quality inspection systems to predictive maintenance tools, from smart warehousing to robotic grippers and 3D printing, the company demonstrated how Indian manufacturers can leap into the future of Industry 4.0.
“DesignTech Systems is committed to bringing innovation-driven, practical automation technologies for Indian industries,” said Prashant Deshpande, Vice President – Strategy, DesignTech Systems. “Our portfolio reflects the shift towards smart, adaptive, and AI-powered solutions that address real challenges across manufacturing.”
Intelligent Gripping Technology
One of the highlights was DesignTech’s Smart Gripper, engineered to handle objects of different materials and orientations with precision. Unlike conventional grippers that require components to be placed in a fixed alignment, this Smart Gripper adapts automatically.
“The gripper identifies the orientation of the object—whether glass or metal—and applies just the right amount of pressure to pick and place it safely,” explained Deshpande. “This flexibility makes it highly useful in dynamic manufacturing setups.”
Smart Warehousing Made Simple
Another solution that drew attention was Smart Rack, a smart warehouse management system that integrates seamlessly with a company’s ERP. It eliminates the age-old problem of mismatched inventory counts.
“Each bin in the warehouse is made smart,” said Deshpande. “When you lift or replace a component, the count gets automatically updated in the ERP. This removes the need for manual tallying.”
The system is scalable, comes with its own management software, and allows users to set reorder-level alerts. “It takes away repetitive work and ensures real-time accuracy,” he added.
DoBot: User-Friendly Robotics
For packaging industries, DesignTech introduced DoBot, a tabletop robot with flexible applications. Unlike conventional robots limited to pre-programmed locations, DoBot can pick from any random placement.
“What makes DoBot unique is that it requires no robotic programming knowledge,” Deshpande pointed out. “Users can train the robot through a simple joystick function in teach mode. This democratizes automation for industries that may not have in-house robotics expertise.”
VisionX: 360-Degree AI Inspection
VisionX is DesignTech’s AI-powered 360-degree vision inspection system that ensures consistent and fatigue-free quality checks. “Conventional inspection is manual, which brings in subjectivity,” said Deshpande. “VisionX removes fatigue and delivers 100% repeatable results every time.”
The system can handle a wide variety of materials—from rubber and metal to glass and polycarbonate—and can either function as a standalone system or be integrated into existing assembly lines. Its reporting software can be customized to industry formats, ensuring adaptability across sectors.
PreMT: Predictive Maintenance Reinvented
Another innovation on display was PreMT, a predictive maintenance tool that uses AI and vibration analysis to detect potential faults in moving parts before breakdowns occur.
“PreMT not only tells you which part is faulty but also predicts when it is likely to fail,” explained Deshpande. “This transforms maintenance from reactive to predictive and can save companies significant downtime and costs.”
Beyond Prototyping: 3D Printing for Manufacturing
Adding to the lineup, Gautam Chakravorty, Regional Manager – AM, DesignTech Systems, highlighted the company’s advanced 3D printing solutions. “Initially, 3D printing was limited to rapid prototyping,” noted Chakravorty. “But today, with new materials and technologies, it is part of mainstream manufacturing. From producing small batches to applications in medical and education, 3D printing is now a versatile and reliable solution.”
Driving Industry Transformation
By bringing together robotics, AI, smart warehousing, vision systems, predictive maintenance, and additive manufacturing under one umbrella, DesignTech Systems is positioning itself as a one-stop enabler of the smart factory revolution.
As Deshpande summed up, “The future of manufacturing lies in intelligent, adaptive, and connected systems. At DesignTech, we are ensuring that Indian industries are not just ready for this future—but are active participants in shaping it.”
