Delta Electronics India Reports Ongoing Growth at Its Bengaluru R&D Facility

Delta Electronics India’s 61,000 sq. meter LEED Gold–certified R&D campus in Bengaluru is set for significant expansion. Currently home to more than 385 engineers, the facility aims to grow its workforce to 750 within the next three years, according to Chief Technology Officer Shashidhar Mathapati.

The centre houses advanced high-voltage laboratories equipped with 33 kV test systems, domestically designed renewable inverters, and containerised data-centre solutions. These undergo extensive validation, supported by walk-in chambers capable of simulating extreme temperatures from (–) 40°C to 125°C to ensure product reliability across applications.

“Advanced lab investments reduce engineering time and speed up product development,” Mathapati said.

Delta’s automotive engineering division, comprising 100 specialists, showcased innovations including onboard chargers, DC-DC converters, and integrated powertrains. Each product is tested against thousands of automated test cases to ensure durability and performance.

“Automotive applications require million-dollar precision. Our lifecycle management provides 10-year customer support,” Mathapati added.

He also highlighted Delta’s market leadership, noting the company holds over 63% of India’s telecom-rectifier market and supplies UPS solutions to global data-centre clients. The R&D centre additionally develops a wide range of EV chargers—from 700W portable units to battery-swapping stations for two- and three-wheelers.

These developments are backed by Delta’s long-term investment strategy. Of the $500 million investment announced in 2015, 65% has been deployed, with full utilization expected by 2027. This capital supports the company’s smart manufacturing initiatives and high-voltage product development capabilities.

“We’re among the few Indian companies capable of designing and manufacturing high-voltage systems at scale without depending on external platforms,” Mathapati noted.
