Breaking News | India’s First Metro Rail Under River – A Historic Moment for Kolkata!
On Wednesday, Kolkata Metro achieved a significant milestone as it completed its first-ever under-river journey through the tunnel under Hooghly River. This is the first time in India that a metro has undertaken such a journey, making it a historic moment for the city of Kolkata. General Manager of Metro Rail, P Uday Kumar Reddy, described this as a significant achievement.
The historic event was witnessed by two rakes, MR-612 and MR-613, with the MR-612 crossing the Hooghly River at 11:55 hrs. Later, the MR-613 was also taken to Howrah Maidan station.
