Kumbhojkar Plastic Moulders | Journey & Future Aspirations

Anand Kumbhojkar, Partner at Kumbhojkar Plastic Moulders, discusses the company’s journey from its establishment in Pune in 1980 to its emergence as a leader in plastic injection moulding. In this interview, he shares insights into the milestones, challenges, and successes that have shaped the company’s growth and reputation in the industry.

Can you briefly share the history of Kumbhojkar Plastic Moulders?
The company was established in 1980 in Pune, specializing in plastic injection moulding. We initially focused on customized mouldings for industries around Pune, and in 1980, we began offering our products.

How do Kumbhojkar Plastic Moulders stay ahead in terms of innovation and technology in manufacturing?
Our team constantly stays in sync with the latest market developments. Whenever necessary, we upgrade our infrastructure with the latest technology. For product assembly, we have developed Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), and for injection moulding, we use the latest PLC machines of various tonnages to meet our requirements.

How does cable management fit into your overall product portfolio?
Cable management at Kumbhojkar Plastic is linked to panel accessories. We introduced Cable Drag Chains, used in NC and CNC machines and cranes for guiding cables in motion. We were the first to introduce this in India in 1998. Before that, in 1989, we introduced the Festoon Systems Cable Carrier assembly, which was also the first for India. This is how we contribute to the cable management sector.

What strategies have you employed to expand your market presence both in India and internationally?
We focus on several strategies simultaneously. The most important is gathering customer feedback and making product adjustments based on that. We are also exploring strategic partnerships to enhance our market presence.

What are the biggest challenges currently facing the plastic moulding industry, and how is your company addressing them?
The plastic industry has a bad reputation due to improper use and disposal. I believe that as a community, we are responsible for this. There must be a shift in how plastic products are used and disposed of. Since plastic is a part of everyday life, proper disposal and recycling are essential. Through our association with various forums, we conduct training programs to educate the community about the proper use, disposal, and recycling of plastics.
