Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan Takes Charge as CMD of POWERGRID
New Delhi, April 1, 2026: Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan has assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power.
According to an order issued by the Ministry of Power, his tenure will be effective from April 1, 2026, until July 31, 2030 – the date of his superannuation – or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Prior to his appointment as CMD, he served as Director (Projects) at POWERGRID. With over 33 years of extensive experience in the power transmission and telecom sectors, he has held several key leadership and strategic roles within the organization at both regional and corporate levels.
Mr. Mohan’s expertise spans critical domains such as project execution, procurement, commercial operations, regulatory affairs, asset management, and telecom. He was also a founding member of POWERGRID’s Regulatory Cell and played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s regulatory strategy. Additionally, he was instrumental in positioning POWERGRID in the competitive bidding landscape of the power transmission sector.
During his tenure as CEO of POWERGRID Teleservices Limited, he led the expansion of the company’s telecom business and initiated its first data centre project, marking a key milestone in its digital transformation journey.
As Director (Projects), Mr. Mohan oversaw significant achievements, including record capitalisation and capital expenditure. Known for his focus on digitalisation and mechanisation, he has introduced reforms in project monitoring and execution, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and overall delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects.
