HPL Electric & Power is one of India’s leading electric equipment manufacturers, having a formidable presence across electric meters, switches, switchgears, and cables segment. The company has recently made entry into the fans business.

At the DistribuELEC 2024 exhibition, Gautam Seth, Joint Managing Director, HPL Electric & Power Ltd, engaged with mojo4industry, shedding light on the industry trends, policy initiatives, smart meter programme and how all these positive steps will benefit the industry.

The focal point of his discussion was the Government’s ambitious vision for achieving 100% localisation in the electrical equipment industry. Emphasizing the significance of localizing sourcing and manufacturing, he said, “The ‘Make in India’ initiative would propel the entire Indian engineering industry, particularly the global standing of smart meters.” He highlighted smart metering as a pivotal element in this endeavour, presenting it as a distinct opportunity for HPL.

The interview also touched upon HPL’s product launches at DistribuELEC 2024, with a specific focus on expanding their cable segment offerings in alignment with the new electricity act.

Notably, Gautam reveals the company’s foray into the fans segment, sharing a strategic move to broaden their consumer portfolio. He expressed the vision by saying, “We want to provide a comprehensive product range catering to diverse commercial and residential customers.”

Throughout the conversation, he delved into the company’s financial targets for the year, offering viewers an exclusive insight into HPL’s strategies and aspirations.
