Delta Electronics Doubles Down on Data Centre Opportunity

WATCH: https://bit.ly/delta-acrex

At ACREX India 2026, the spotlight was on smarter, more energy-efficient HVAC and infrastructure solutions. At the booth of Delta Electronics, we caught up with Sanjeev Srivastava, Head of Industrial Automation. Delta Electronics India to understand how the company is driving energy efficiency, intelligent building technologies, and sustainable infrastructure for India’s rapidly growing facilities. Excerpts:

Q: Could you highlight the products you are showcasing this time?
Sanjeev Srivastava: There is currently a strong focus on infrastructure projects such as metros, airports, shipbuilding, and commercial developments. Keeping this in mind, we are showcasing several advanced products.

One of the key solutions is the MAGLEV, which functions as a controller capable of driving motors at much higher speeds than conventional motors. Traditional mechanical bearings limit the number of rotations per minute, but with magnetic levitation technology, where the rotor rotates on a magnetic field, speeds can reach 20,000–40,000 RPM. This allows for a much more compact system that saves space, improves energy efficiency, and delivers better overall performance.

We are also showcasing our MSI motors, which are permanent magnet motors. Typically, motor efficiency is measured at full load, but these motors deliver over 90% efficiency even at 50–60% load. This not only improves operational efficiency but also reduces the carbon footprint.

Another product on display is our liquid-cooled drive. Traditional air-cooled drives require large panels and significant ventilation for cooling. In contrast, liquid-cooled drives use water, glycol-based fluids, or refrigerants, making the system more compact and efficient. These drives come in an enclosed IP66 cabinet and do not require a separate cabinet setup.

We are also presenting solutions for data centers, which are becoming increasingly important as technologies like 5G and AI expand. Data centers require precision cooling for server racks, and Delta offers solutions such as Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs). For the broader data center infrastructure, we provide advanced drives and motors to ensure efficient cooling. Since modern data centers are often modular in design, our solutions support scalable cooling as capacity expands.

In addition, we are showcasing building automation solutions, including lighting control systems, chiller plant managers, and air quality management solutions. These systems manage fresh air intake, filtration of particulate matter, and recirculation of conditioned air. This ensures better indoor air quality and prevents carbon dioxide levels from rising in enclosed spaces.

Q: As you mentioned, data centers are the next big opportunity for the HVAC industry. How significant is this segment for Delta, and how would you quantify the market?
Sanjeev Srivastava: The data center segment is growing exponentially. We are seeing a rapid increase in demand as global technology giants like Amazon and Microsoft continue to set up data centers in India. Most of these developments are concentrated in Tier-1 cities, which further accelerates demand for efficient HVAC and cooling solutions.

For Delta, this represents a major opportunity, and we are fully prepared to meet the requirements of the data center industry.

Beyond reducing space and improving cost efficiency, our focus is also on energy efficiency and intelligence. By improving efficiency and reducing product footprint, we are also helping reduce CO₂ emissions.

With the industry moving toward Industry 4.0 and 5.0, our products are increasingly equipped with built-in intelligence. This allows operators to monitor overall plant performance and enables predictive maintenance, rather than relying solely on preventive maintenance.

Additionally, our systems can adapt to seasonal variations. Cooling or heating requirements change throughout the year, and intelligent systems allow for dynamic adjustments rather than relying on a single fixed solution.

Artificial intelligence also plays a role in our product development. Delta provides energy management software that optimizes energy use not only from the input side but also helps recover and utilize waste energy where possible.

Beyond data centers, we also offer solutions for lighting control and warehousing, as well as software platforms that can be integrated across manufacturing facilities and industrial environments to optimize performance and efficiency.

Q: How important is the HVAC business segment for Delta?
Sanjeev Srivastava: It is a very important segment for us. We are working closely with almost all major air-conditioning manufacturers, including those involved in chiller systems.

We collaborate with leading brands in the air-conditioning industry as well as top chiller manufacturers both in India and globally. With our current product portfolio, we are well positioned to address the growing demand in this market.

Q: What kind of growth do you anticipate in this segment?
Sanjeev Srivastava:
Given the rapid expansion of this industry, we expect double-digit growth in the coming years. We are confident that with the increasing demand for energy-efficient HVAC and data center solutions, we will be able to achieve this growth trajectory.
