PM Modi inaugurates India’s first-ever driverless train operations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first-ever driverless train operations on Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line today. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister termed today’s event as an attempt to make urban development future ready. He said the inauguration of the country’s first driverless metro shows how fast India is moving towards smart infrastructure.

He added that in 2014, only 5 cities had metro rail and today, metro rail is available in 18 cities. By the year 2025, metro rail service will be available in more than 25 cities.

Adani’s deal to buy stake in Odisha Power Generation Corp cancelled

Adani Power’s agreement with AES OPGC Holding and AES India for acquisition of 49 per cent stake in the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) has been cancelled as the Odisha government, which holds 52 per cent stake in OPGC has exercised the right of first refusal.

Earlier in June, Adani Power had entered into a share sale and purchase agreement (SSPA) to acquire a total of over 89 lakh equity shares from AES OPGC Holding and AES India held in OPGC representing 49 per cent of the total issued paid-up and subscribed equity share capital of OPGC. The cash consideration of the proposed sale was $135 million.

Govt identifies new routes for waterways

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has identified Domestic locations namely Hazira, Okha, Somnath Temple, Diu, Pipavav, Dahej, Mumbai/JNPT, Jamnagar, Kochi, Ghogha, Goa, Mundra and Mandvi and 6 International routes, connecting 4 international destinations namely Chattogram (Bangladesh), Seychelles (East Africa) Madagascar (East Africa) and Jaffna (Sri Lanka) from Indian major coastal port towns for the commencement of ferry services through inland waterways.

The ministry has been working continuously for the promotion of Coastal Shipping under Sagarmala Programme. The Sagarmala programme is the flagship programme of the Ministry to promote port-led development in the country through harnessing India’s 7,500 Km long coastline and potentially navigable waterways.

Hartek Solar bags 1.8-MW rooftop project from Bikaji

Hartek Solar, the rooftop solar division of the Hartek Group, has bagged a 1.8-MW rooftop project in the industrial category from Bikaji, a leading FMCG company, in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

The solar plant at Bikaji’s Head Office in Bichhwal Industrial Area will also be equipped with storage facility. It will generate 2,822 MWh of clean electricity annually, offsetting 57,661 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Hartek Solar will execute the project right from installation of solar panels and inverters to supply, design, engineering and commissioning.
