HANNOVER MESSE bundles the entire energy value chain

With the newly structured exhibition area “Industrial Energy” and the co-located event “Europe Energy Week”, HANNOVER MESSE brings together the entire value chain of the energy industry– from generation to in-factory application. The proximity of the energy halls to adjacent areas dedicated to automation, digital solutions, and drive and fluid technology highlights cross-industry synergies.

While energy used to be secondary aspect of building and plant engineering, it is now a key issue for executives at global industrial enterprises. From 5 to 8 April 2027, HANNOVER MESSE highlights this shift with the exhibition area “Industrial Energy” and the new partner trade show “Europe Energy Week”, which is organized in partnership with DMG Events.

Global industry faces a monumental challenge: decoupling from fossil fuels, the rapid rise of electrified manufacturing processes, stricter sustainability requirements, and volatile energy markets are transforming energy from a simple purchasing resource into a decisive factor for industrial competitiveness. In response to this landscape, HANNOVER MESSE has restructured and expanded its energy area, establishing a comprehensive platform for industrial and infrastructure solutions.

According to current data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), global energy sector investments will reach around USD 3.4 trillion in 2026. Approximately USD 2.2 trillion is expected to flow into power grids, storage systems, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and electrification in 2026. This development is driven by the ongoing electrification of industry, mobility, and heating, as well as the surging energy demand of data centers and AI applications. For manufacturers of energy equipment, grid technology, storage systems, and power plant components, this opens up significant business opportunities along the entire energy technology value chain.

Realignment: Where Energy Solutions Meet Industry
At the core of HANNOVER MESSE’s energy concept is a thematic clustering at the northern part of the Hannover Exhibition Center, located adjacent to the main north entrance. Starting in 2027, Halls 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23 form an interconnected, highly efficient ecosystem that guides visitors with specific investment and transformation needs straight to the right solution providers.

“This new concept creates a globally unique synergy effect. For the first time, energy producers and distributors meet their largest industrial consumers in immediate proximity,” explains Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board, Deutsche Messe AG. “This collective shortens decision-making processes, accelerates investments in critical infrastructure, and provides answers to the most pressing questions of the energy transition.”

“Rising global demand for electricity and the increasing electrification of industry, mobility, and heating make high-performance, integrated energy systems a central condition for economic growth and the successful support of the energy transition. With its new energy concept, HANNOVER MESSE consistently addresses this development, creating an essential platform for our member companies to showcase their technologies and solutions for the energy supply of the future,” says Dr. Dennis Rendschmidt, Managing Director, VDMA Power Systems.

“The joint platform of HANNOVER MESSE and Europe Energy Week creates precisely the framework that the energy transition needs right now. For the first time, we are experiencing the entire value chain united in one place – from generation to industrial application,” states Ove Petersen, CEO of GP JOULE and Deputy Chairman of the HANNOVER MESSE Exhibitor Advisory Committee for Energy. “For exhibitors, this means not only maximum visibility in the appropriate context, but above all direct engagement with the key decision-makers required to begin concrete projects and investments. Industry needs a secure and affordable energy supply. This new environment is the ideal place to build partnerships and shape the future of industry in harmony with future energy solutions.”

Industrial Energy: Perspective from inside the factory
Located in Halls 22 and 23, Industrial Energy showcases all energy processes, systems, and technologies used within the plant boundaries of an industrial company. The focus is on how to manufacture securely, cost-effectively, digitally controlled, and with low carbon emissions.

The area is divided into four thematic clusters. “Factory Grids” spotlights stable and secure electrical power supply for industrial sites. “Energy Management” centers on efficiency, control systems, and energy as a production factor. “On-Site Energy & Storage” features integrated concepts for self-generation and sector coupling directly on the factory premises. “Hydrogen + Fuel Cells EUROPE” presents providers of hydrogen technologies, fuel cells, and synthetic energy carriers for industrial applications.

The product and service offering targets visitors from fields such as energy management, site and plant management, technical management, production planning, and sustainability. Scale ranges from kilowatt-level applications to megawatt-class systems across factory and campus levels.

Europe Energy Week: The infrastructure and market perspective
Located in Halls 19, 20, and 21, Europe Energy Week represents the overall ecosystem of energy supply, transmission system operators, politics, finance, and large-scale industry. Topics include decarbonization, electrification, energy logistics, gas, liquefied natural gas, new fuels, oil, renewable energies, and reactor technologies. Projects range from megawatt to gigawatt scales. The event connects producers and investors with policymakers, technology leaders, and industrial users to enable faster decision-making and drive the large-scale buildout of critical infrastructure.

“Together with HANNOVER MESSE, Europe Energy Week offers European industry solutions for secure, reliable, and affordable energy as well as scalable and economically viable decarbonization solutions to safeguard its long-term competitiveness,” says Christopher Hudson, President, DMG Events. “These two powerful trade shows complement each other perfectly and create valuable synergies for exhibitors and visitors alike. HANNOVER MESSE focuses on everything behind the meter, while Europe Energy Week covers everything in front.”
